From the Green Hill

A Montichiari, near Brescia, there is a herd of dogs Beagle intended solely for laboratories (pharmaceutical, academic, private and military) from around the world: GREEN HILL.

And 'one of the largest in Europe and is home to more than 2,500 dogs.
One of the workshops that is supplied by Green Hill is the notorious Huntingdon Life Sciences , with two locations in England and the United States, the largest town in Toxicology Europe.
Green Hill had even expansion in the pipeline to be comfortable for up to 5,000 dogs, which has also recently given up, thanks to the many external pressures.
The beagle is preferred to other breeds for the docility and gentle nature that characterize it, as well as for the short hair, more comfortable to perform experiments, and to be sociable with the other species.
The fact that the beagle, and in general the dog as a pet is used only for trials and even raised for this purpose, obviously, may impress public opinion in an even greater respect other species used.
animal movements across Italy in fact, and especially those of Brescia, long protest and struggle against the existence of this "factory" dog lab, requiring action by local government to solicit the closure.
